Conservation Education in Schools
As a way to foster better and practical environmental stewardship among learners in Kenya’s learning institutions, Bustani Garden program creates the space for co-learning through setting up and managing gardens for fruits, vegetables and local/indigenous trees in schools.
These sustainable practical systems can leverage on school land proximity to students and the coupled advantage to help train learners on the importance of conservation, ways of restoring nature and the art of gardening.
OBJECTIVES
Promoting the Benefits of Plant-Based Foods
At KEAN International, we are committed to raising awareness about the importance of plant-based foods and their positive impact on health, the environment, and communities. Through education and advocacy, we highlight the benefits of plant-based diets while addressing the harmful effects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and junk food.

Establish a School Garden in Every County
Our goal is to create at least one thriving school garden in every county, empowering students and communities to connect with nature, learn about sustainable agriculture, and cultivate healthy eating habits. These gardens will serve as living classrooms, fostering environmental stewardship and inspiring the next generation of eco-conscious leaders.
Enhance Soil Quality in Target Schools
We are committed to improving soil health in school gardens and surrounding areas through sustainable practices such as composting, mulching, and organic farming techniques. By restoring and enriching the soil, we aim to create fertile grounds for learning, growing nutritious food, and fostering environmental awareness among students and communities.
Grow Their Own Food
Empower Students and Communities to Through hands-on workshops, training sessions, and educational programs, we aim to equip students and community members with the knowledge and skills to grow their own food sustainably.
